Buy it cause you like it. The 005 may have been discontinued, but it sure ain't no collectors edition. The 005 is a good reference, but the 111 is a little better imo opinion with the no logo sandwich dial and display back. "H" serial and newer will have have the sandwich dial.
I've owned this Panerai for around 6 months and it's been pretty fantastic - lovely, super bright lume that lasts long into the early hours of the morning. It looks super unique and the manual winding and locking mechanism are a joy to operate. Case: Polished Steel. Caseback: Solid. Crystal: 3.5mm Sapphire. Diameter: 44mm. Lug Width: 24mm. Its 44mm stainless steel case is water resistant to 300 meters, and its ultra-clean black dial offers exceptional legibility. As a Base Logo model, the watch features just the hour and minute hands (no seconds indicator), as well as the retro Up/Down Panerai logo just above 6 o’clock.
